Just a passing thought, but on rereading the chapter The Palantir, it’s interesting seeing Pippin under Sauron’s, well, command, for a brief moment. It is the Ring speaking for Frodo is incapable of uttering such a curse. Does the ring talk in Lord of the Rings?Īnd so after Frodo speaks and tells Gollum to go away the Ring - the wheel of fire - speaks in a “commanding voice” to Gollum and warns him that if he should ever touch it again he will be thrown into the fire. Many of the other characters in The Lord of the Rings have their own agendas and secret desires, which the Ring is able to corrupt them through. Let us together rebuild this world that we may share in the days of peace.Chief among the reasons that the hobbits are more resistant to the Ring is that they do not crave power, lust after fame, or desire to rule over any others. “This day does not belong to one man but to all.“But do not despise the lore that has come down from distant years for oft, it may chance that old wives keep in memory word of things that once were needful for the wise to know.” - Celeborn.
“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” - Thorin Oakenshield. You will face the same Evil, and you will defeat it.” - Arwen “Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread through shadows to the edge of night, until the stars are all alight.” - J.R.R.“Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.” - Elrond.“You step into the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.” - J.R.R.“All’s well that ends better.” - Hamfast.“It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing, such a little thing.” - Boromir.Small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.” - Elrond “Yet such is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world.I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.” - Arwen It’s mine, my own, my love, my precious.” - Gollum Sam: “Of course you are, and I’m coming with you!” Frodo: “Go back, Sam! I’m going to Mordor alone!”.“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.” - Queen Galadriel.“Deeds will not be less valiant because they are unpraised.” - Aragorn.I cannot give you what you seek.” - Aragorn “It is but a shadow and a thought that you love.“A hunted man sometimes wearies of distrust and longs for friendship.” - Aragorn.“I would have gone with you to the end, into the very fires of Mordor.” - Aragorn.Pippin: “ What about breakfast?” Aragorn: “Haven’t you had that already?” Pippin: “We’ve had one, yes. Aragorn: “Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall.”.Merry: “How many did you eat?” Pippin: “Four.” One small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man.” “One does not simply walk into Mordor.” - Boromir.“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.” - Gimli. These quotes from Gandalf and the gang are far from the only great moments in Lord of the Rings (and admittedly, some are sad quotes), but they’re certainly some of our favorites. He certainly wasn’t alone in serving up words of wisdom, though. Of course, it’s Gandalf who really guides us and offers some truly exceptional advice throughout the books and movies. Everyone loves a good hero, and Tolkien gave us not one but a whole hoard of ’em - and, along with those heroes, a whole hoard of timeless Lord of the Rings quotes.
Who doesn’t love an epic adventure full of fire, magic, and brave heroes? No one, that’s who. And then there’s the actual travel the Fellowship undertakes. No two characters are even 75 percent similar! Shoot, he created a whole culture within the Shire that relates entirely to Hobbits only. Each character comes with their very own fun and unique personality, ranging from the surly dwarf Gimli to the at-once brave and a bit neurotic Bilbo. From the actual lands, like the Shire, to the characters, there’s something that appeals to everyone. There are just so many unique aspects of the world he created.
Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings might be the most read and the most loved. Of all the epic works within the fantasy genre, J.R.R.
